Past Projects - Commercial
Self Store Unit, Leighton Buzzard
This was a commercial development on a site within the established industrial district of Leighton Buzzard on land previously used for manufacturing.
The Clients'' brief was to maximise the available floor space for fitting out with mezzanine floors. The site had to accommodate the building itself and external areas sufficient for vehicles to park and manoeuvre.
The Local Authority viewed this site as one that was an important visual location along Grovebury Road and resisted the standard portal frame option. The result was a parapet wall solution with highly insulated panel cladding in banded colours.
Furzton Lakeside, Milton Keynes
A development of 15 offices on the edge of Furzton Lake, Milton Keynes.
The design of the units was modelled on a previous development in Hemel Hempstead, successfully completed by the same Developer based on a simple office pod of about 200sq m around a central service core.
Construction is with a steel frame supporting masonry external wall cladding and concrete floors.
On this site a requirement of English Partnerships meant that the development had to be designed to gain a "very good" rating under the BREEAM assessment (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), in terms of construction methods & materials, servicing and building use. This was successfully achieved.
