Past Projects - Special Needs
Special Needs School, Wingrave
This project was for MacIntyre Care so they could relocate their school from the historic Wingrave Manor into a building that met current needs.
The school accommodates 36 students and 72 carers and teachers and consists of an upper and lower school. They are connected around a central court yard with a two storey administration building connecting the two facilities.
Because of the mobility issues with the students and a need for ease of navigation, the teaching areas are all on one floor and all connected by a central corridor. These areas are further developed with rooms for more communal activities grouped around the court yard and quieter teaching rooms on the perimeter.
Waring Close, Leicester
This project was for MacIntyre Care to replace the original accommodation on the site that failed to meet the standards now required.
The building comprises accommodation for 15 residents with communal living facilities and some administration areas. To comply with the client’s brief the building had to create a domestic environment internally and externally, hence the decision to design it as three linked buildings predominantly on one floor. Internally, the bedrooms all contain en suite facilities and have been individually designed to accommodate each long term residents needs.
